We Are Terrible Parents

Hi Everyone,

Not only did we nearly kill our blog, we also missed its second birthday. HOW??

Actually I know, we kinda stopped when we got to college and decided school work was kinda important. So this humble blog has been two for almost two weeks and we didn't know. Oops....

Goodness, so much has changed in that time. We got Rose, she left, we've all had birthdays and band concerts (Except Rose because she's not in a band)We've moved schools, done some pretty crazy stuff, grown up a whole heap, I've been to a different hemisphere but somehow we managed to stay together.

So maybe we don't see Rose at all and seeing Enesti is just once a week now but I think that the things that we do and the things we've done together have been awesome. Even if Rose is staying up until 2 am to talk to us and we have to pretend to be normal when we see Enesti and we're neglecting our poor blog.

Thanks for an amazing two years girls!!

Lots of Love and blogging hope for the future!!

Love Zara

P.S I was looking for a song that worked and I found these two.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tgcc5V9Hu3g - Heroes by David Bowie, I just like this song and it sorta (SORTA) works.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEhutIEUq8k - We Are Golden by Mika, because you girls are golden and it's a fun song!
Enjoy! ~Z

100 bottles of ....water.... yep

Hey hey

wow okay yeah I haven't posted in... a long time. I say that way too much cause it happens way too often. However 100 post!!! go me go me...

I don know what I should do so I'm going to do pretty much nothing. Cool cool
So yep.
Life is a bit weird at the moment, good but weird.
Being at different school to the other down under girls has been a new experience. I still see them at least once a week (generally) and I also have this massive batch of new friends too.
There have been some difficult times at school but its been worked out I think and I'm back on track with my work and social life.
I miss all my down under girls in class and I miss Rose like crazy.
But with a couple of really close friends at school and the constant contact with the others, life is looking pretty good. Something I haven't been able to say in a long time.

I love all my blogging girls like mad.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

Hi Everyone

Just a little update for you.

So I'm officially older than everyone again. I turned 17 just under two weeks ago. It's funny, I don't feel any older, really the only thing that has changed is that I can drive on my own! So much fun!

I am now the proud owner of two cacti and a a succulent. I like to call the Avengers. Every morning, the first thing I do is put them in the sun on my window sill. They're really cool little plants, one of them is the spikiest thing ever!

But this post is not about my cactus. This post is about the past.

This time last year, Rose was on German Camp, which is where she is right now. Lucky duck. The rest of us were freezing our extremities off in cold winter Down Under, which is also something we're doing again. I was the only one with a licence, 4 out of 5 of us were at the same school and we were slowly planning our formal.

So a lot has changed, some stuff hasn't *cough lack of blogging cough*. We've had our fair share of fights, that memorable few weeks where the quad standers were involved, the one about sitting in the grass which was in the courtyard but not for our use apparently, if anyone is able to explain. We've had brilliant moment, band camp, you looked amazing at formal girls, we've skyped half across the world, to America, to France and to Australia.

So things are the same but different, and I like how far we've come. I'm proud of all of you!

And one last thing before I go, Braces come off in five weeks ladies!! Bring on the apples!

Adventures and Sleep Deprivation

Hi Everyone,

How are you? Preparing to go back to school?

I got home at 2:30 this morning. No, no, I was not out partying wildly! I was in Cairns last week, which is in Far North Queensland. Getting home was an event. First the transfer we booked just didn't show up, so after half an hour we had to call a cab, then it was a rush to checked in on time, queue jumping is NOT cool people, especially if someone is going to a miss a flight and you're not. Flying was fine, but then we had to sit on the tarmac in Sydney for an hour and a half because Virgin's computer system went down. They had to cancel 12 flights to get people waiting to get off to planes into terminals. Then we drove home from Sydney. That was long, I did some sleeping in that last part of the journey.

But aside from yesterday's afternoon debarkle, I had a fabulous time. We flew into Cairns on Sunday afternoon, it was nice being able to wear shorts. My brother and I hit the pool almost immediately and then I literally hit the pool, successfully removing the skin from my finger tips and parts of my finger nails and my nail polish! Yay for blood and pain! That was the end of swimming for that day. We walked along the water's edge and saw a fire show! So many ideas for the story with Hazel.

On Monday, we did some more swimming, my hand was feeling better, we wandered around town, I have new board shorts. Mum and I went and got our nails done. The damage done to my hand was fixed, I had fluro yellow nails, but acetone is painful to get in cuts and scrapes, I do not recommend  it. We went to the Night Markets because I was really excited about going. Mum and I  were really looking forward to finding a store where you get to choose which oyster you want opened and then you get to keep the pearl, we'd read about it online. Alas, we did not find it! However, we got my cousin a funky little solar power car for his birthday.

Tuesday saw me journeying to the Great Barrier Reef. The boot ride out was my least favourite part of the day, the first half was spent feeling sick, the second half was spent being sick, that was so much fun... Anyway, once we got to Moore's Reef, which is on of over 2000 reefs that make up the GBR, I was fine. Mum and I were snorkelling partners. Oh my gosh, the reef is BEAUTIFUL! I have never seen anything like it, there were so many different fish and corals. The colours are amazing, we saw a Rainbow Fish, TWO sea turtles, some Dorys, lots of silver dollars, the coral had so many different colours, we saw sea slugs, ENORMOUS FISH the length of my calves, I saw two of them having a fight. It was unreal seeing this whole other world. We spent an hour in the water, but it flew past. I didn't go back in, I was too cold and the sea was quite rough but I hang out in the underwater viewing part, watching the underwater world go by. The boat ride back to Cairns was a lot better for me, found my sea legs. At one point the boat stopped and the crew were really excited, there was a pod of whales near us! My brother, a few other passengers, some crew and I headed to the top deck, which had been roped off. It was awesome watching the whales. Lots of massive splashes and we saw one come out of the water and flip its tail as it went back under. Then the water got so rough the boat was practically diagonal and we had to go right then. I didn't so much walk across the deck to the stairs, as crawl because it was safer, my death grip was very useful on the ride.

On Wednesday, we got picked up from our hotel at 7:20, we were off to Kuranda! After a bus ride to Fresh Water Station, we hang out and looked at the tiny museum, there was an old red phone booth there, I had my photo taken in it. We got on the historic train for our journey to Kuranda. They asked us to change carriages so while the train was moving we got to walk between the carriages, DAY MADE! The scenery was beautiful all the way up the mountain, I took heaps of photos, and we learned all about making the line, we stopped at a waterfall. In Kuranda, we went to the Butterfly House, which I am fairly certain is my family's favourite place in the whole world. We all have a thing for butterflies. We saw so many beautiful butterflies, Cairns Butterflies are gorgeous. After that we took the sky rail down the hills, getting off at the stops to look at the rain forests. Going over the top over the Daintree was incredible. After the skyrail, we headed to Hartley's, which is a crocodile park. We went on a swamp cruise, watched some crocs swim and snack. Then we saw the croc show, lots of jaw slaps, which make cool sounds, Hagrid, the crocodile decided to chase the keepers for a while, that was entertaining. I talked to some Padymelons, 'roos and wallabies, looked at the quoll, feed the Cassowary and learned about Koalas. Busy day!

On Thursday we went swimming in the Esplanade Lagoon for several hours, then I had a shower and then my brother decided we should go swimming again, so we did. We walked towards the cargo port, watched an enormous ship being loaded with pallets of concrete and did some more wandering. We had Filopino food for dinner, it was amazing! You should defiantly try it.

Yesterday, being Friday, we went to the top floor of the Casino, where there is a wildlife park of sorts. There's a high ropes course through it so my brother and I did that. That was so much fun, there were birds on the obstacles and you could see the wildlife from different angles. There was even a zipline over a 4 metre croc, that was a little scary. The scary bit was stepping off the platform, but after that, smiles all around! I also did a power jump, which is jumping off a platform 13 metres of the ground. I did that twice, Yes, I'm not exactly normal.  After lunch we headed back and you know how that goes.

Today, I passed my driving test! That's right, after getting home at half past two in the morning, I passed my driving test at 11 this morning. I'm putting that in my list of achievements under : Can drive safely while sleep deprived. :P

Okey dokey, that's all for now folks. Hope your holidays are good and that Rose is having fun on her month away.

See you during the week girls!

WOO! Holidays!!

Hi Everyone!

How is everyone? Enjoying you're all enjoying your holidays? It's nice when all of us are on holidays. Except that Nira is out of the country and Rose is visiting another state Up There, so it's kinda hard to talk to each other. But I'm sure they're having a good time!

So today has been really good for me. I had my hair cut, meaning I can see! Also, the bottom of my hair was cut too, that was the amusing part. I had to stand up so they could check it was straight at the bottom. I've painted my toenails bright orange. And, the best bit, WE GOT A CAR!! That's right, there's a car I can drive. It's a little silver Astra and we're calling it Astrid!! We're picking her up tomorrow!

And on Saturday, I have my very last driving lesson so that I can get my Ps on my birthday.

Anyway, short post to keep you up to date. More soon.

Studying, Please Try Again Later

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick post for you before I head back to the books.

Goodness, it's been a while since I posted here. Anyway, next week is crossline-testing week at school. I have 4 tests in 3 days and some genius put maths and chem on the same day. There goes my Friday. Poor Hazel has 3 tests in one day! I swear, the person in charge of timetabling is going to hear from us.

I've been doing maths all day. My fingers are stained with blue ink and there are eraser remains all over my desk, and no, I don't mean wolf-men.

Rose, I am EXTREMELY jealous of you right now! I'm going away for a week, maybe somewhere Down Under where summer never ends (crossing fingers for Alice). But you get to go on language camp and then to ITALY! Why must you live all of my dreams?

Ok guys, I gotta get back to work. I love you all, good luck with your tests and the like. Rose, don't exhaust yourself having fun! Hopefully I'll be sending a package your way soon!

Love Zara.

Summer!

Howdy Y'all!

It's finally summer holidays here! Three months of doing NOTHING.
false. I'm actually going to be running around all summer and am looking forward to it! I'm taking week-long writing classes later this month, then I go visit relatives on the East Coast. Then I go to camp (and will again be offline for a whole month.) then...
wait for it...
...
...
...
I'M GOING TO ITALY! WOOOOOOOO!
And that will bring me (finally) into year 11.

I miss you all. We need to skype soon or I may explode.

Best Wishes!

Mum's Day... And She's Away

Hey hey

So it's Mother's Day.... Mothers' Day? Stupid apostrophe. Question of the day: Where does the apostrophe go?

As it says in the title, my mum is away, well for most of the day anyway. She gets back late this afternoon I think. But the present is wrapped and the card is made, so I'm way ahead of schedule.

I'm so close to 100 posts! But I have no idea how to make it special... ideas?

Ok, that's it really.

Yay For Saturdays!

Hi Everyone,

How are you all going? Enesti, I really don't think you should be playing games in class, learning's kinda important, or so I'm told.:P

So it's Saturday. I like Saturdays. It's 12:30 and so far I have done no homework! I know what you're thinking, Zara why have you not done any homework? Fear not blog readers, I'm going to do homework after this but I've been productive this morning.

After my sleep in, 9 o'clock is a good time to get up on Saturdays, breakfast and a quick catch up with youtube, my dog and I headed to the back yard for some skipping and tennis ball throwing. This ended when he got distracted and lost the tennis ball, which I had to find. Then we went for a run, please don't ever try and take your jack russell for a run if he's not allowed of the lead. Let's just call the dog, pupster, which is a family joke. Anyway, Pupster has issues with sustained running unless he's on the loose, so I ended up half dragging the silly beast home. After this, he went and collapsed somewhere in the sun in the garden and I played the dance game we have on wii. That was fun, some of those songs are hiliarous and I'm fairly certain my dancing has gotten better since I got the game.

And then I cleaned my room, again, and read a magazine. So in my mind, that's productive. It means that I'm going to sleep like a baby tonight. And that I'm really hungry now. Lunch will have to wait until I finish this post.

Anyway, tomorrow is mother's day Down Under, I'm not sure if it's the same Up There. Mum and my brother, (what did we call him here?) are running in the mother's day classic, Dad and I are the cheer squad. Somehow I'm the cheer squad a lot. Oh well.
\
I was listening to "Hey Kristina" by AllCaps early and one of the lines is "You're one of the five awesome girls I know". Now I know that's a reference to one of the members of AllCaps and the youtube channel they were part of but it made me remember, I know four awesome girls and I'd like to hope I'm number 5 in that group. That's you, blogger girls. We need a better name... Suggestions ladies?

Ok, I'm going to write my English oral and hunter/gather some lunch, pasta is looking good right now.

Posting During Class... Rebel

Hey hey

So I'm in Legal Studies and we're not in the computer lab. I bring my laptop now and it's connected to internet. Rebel, I'm not paying attention to the teacher. She's so weird, she tells us way too much about her personal life, her divorce and all the stuff that it involved. :P

Anyway I think we're meant to be writing something so I'm going to pretend I am by continuing to type here... Tralala lala. Oh yay only 5 minutes left.

Ok, so there isn't much going on in my life right now... NO WAIT
I'm in a musical! 'All Shook Up'. It's going to be awesome.

Um, What else can I write before class finishes? Blah blah constitution.

OK CLASS FINISHED.

Just a Quick Note

Hi Everyone,

I'm very proud of the blog girls today. And they probably don't even know why.

This is post 303. That's right, we have over 300 posts here! Nira holds post 300 I believe. So I'm very happy.

But I'm more happy about the fact that you have all blogged in the couple of weeks! Thanks girls!

So that's really all, I love you all very much but I've got some maths homework calling for me.

Keep up the great work Beautifuls!!

SUMMER

Howdy y'all.
Well, spring lasted about 24 hours here. I'm not even joking. It snowed like six inches (15 centimetres) last weekend, and this weekend it's 70 degrees out (21 degrees celcius) I'm wearing shorts, helping my mother in the garden, and biking. I biked ten miles today. (16.1 kilometres). It felt good.
Wow. Just realized that there's a lot of conversions there.

Anyway, cool stuff is happening. The Horse Expo's at the state fairgrounds right now. That means lots of pretty horses to see and lots of expensive horse equipment that I can't afford.

Only about 7 weeks left until summer holidays!

Best Wishes,
Rose

Holiday Marathons

Hey hey

So earlier today I realised how much TV I've watched in just under two weeks.

2 seasons of Merlin.
1/2 a season of Supernatural
1/2 a season of Torchwood
Rewatched multiple Doctor Who episodes and the new eps.
Rewatched a season of Sherlock
          plus
Captain America
Iron Man
Iron Man 2
The Incredible Hulk
Thor
The Avengers
Escape from planet Earth
Warm Bodies (Doesn't really count, I didn't pay attention.)
The Croods
plus special features of a lot

And that's just the stuff I can remember.
So if I add that up...
Thats just under 66 hours of TV.

Hey, not as bad as I thought. Though when you take into consideration I sleep for about 10 hours a day.
Starting from the beginning of the holidays, midnight of the first Saturday (as in midnight between Friday and Saturday).

(This is an approximation)
Total time: 336 Hours
Sleep: 144 Hours
TV: 66 Hours
Internet: 76 Hours
Other: 50 Hours.

Dude! What were those other hours? I actually had a social life? Sweet!!!

Anyway, that's my holidays for anyone who is interested.

I'm Sorry Zara

Hi

As Zara mentioned in her last post, she was over at my new house and I fell asleep on her. I'm extremely sorry. Really.

Oh, and I had some very excellent Indian food for lunch.

I think that's all for tonight.

Nira out.

I CAN WALK

Hi Everyone,

It's occured to me that's how I start most of my posts. But I digress from the title.

Yes ladies and, well, ladies(?), I can walk again! Despite the fact that after I blogged on Sunday, I hobbled upstairs to have a shower and then had to crawl back to the lounge, crying in pain. I am not exaggerating. And then I had to go to work with it strapped, and then explain to my boos why I needed to go and restrap my ankle during my shift because it had slipped. Fun times.

The end of the holidays is drawing near and so a new term looms upon us Down Under. This means back to homework, assignments, classes and packed lunches. It also means GWO is back, Crossfire is back, extra French is back, among other things, so we will be busy little bees. Though hopefully the bees will stay away from us at lunch time so we can eat instead of turning into weeping angels, you know, only when it's not looking.

Not much has been happening, the holidays are like that. I've seen Nira's new house, although there was a distinct lack of internal walls, we went to the Dawn Service, that was cold and then Nira fell asleep at about 8:15 in the morning. So I rode home.Well done dear! I actually came home, had a shower, played wii for a while and then went to bed. I was even provided with chocolate! Thanks Mum!!

Okey dokey, that's all for now.

Have a good weekend.

Love Zara

Vroom Vroom

Howdy Y'all.
So... I've been learning to drive. Woo!
It's probably different from how y'all learned to drive. First of all, I sit on the left and drive on the right of the road.
Second of all, I'm learning to use a manual transmission (aka stick shift.)
And let me tell you, it's HARD. I've been practicing for weeks and I can't even get into gear reliably.
Anyway, that's just one thing happening in my life at the moment.
So much for Blog Blitz 2013.
Miss y'all.
Best Wishes,
Rose

Supernatural has taken over my life.

Howdy y'all.
What happened to everyone having their own greeting? No one does that anymore except maybe Nira and me.

Anyways, at lunch today, my friend and I were trying to describe Supernatural to a friend.
What we came up with was:
99.99999999% of the characters have Daddy issues (or in some cases Mommy issues. Or both.)
Think about it.

I won't provide a list of characters with parental problems here because many of those would constitute spoilers.

But seriously. My friend and I came up with like two characters sans parental problems. And they were parents themselves with screwed up children.

Best Wishes,
Rose

All Things Nerdy

Hello my pretties

I felt that it was time for me to blog once more. Today my post will be on the awesomeness that is...

...

...

...

....

Not Literally

Not Literally is a performance group who can be found on YouTube. They mainly do awesome parodies, with four Harry Potter songs, one Hunger Games and one Doctor Who, along with this thing called 'Ask Hogwarts' in which people send in questions that get answered buy the stereotypical person from each house. I've sent in a question and hopefully it will be answered, so keep an eye out for that.

Anywho

Needles and Ankles

Hi Everyone,

While Rose is fighting an invasion of chickens, I'm not able to walk or stand for extended periods of time. I've hurt my ankle, goodness knows how, and it's making my life fun.

Today is my brother's 15th birthday and instead of being ridiculous and mucking around, I've been pretty much confined to the lounge because of my inability to walk. Poor kid actually had to get something for me and now I can't help with dinner. Curses. However, this ankle meant no work. Not sure if that's good or bad.

Now onto part two of the blog, needles. Now before anyone freaks out, no, I have not been given shoots. Do you really think I'd allow that sort of nonsense? No, my needles are more of the craft variety. In the last week I have turned an old denim skirt into a shoulder bag and used ties for the strap, I think it's pretty funky (Am I the only one to use the word funky?). I've also knitted myself arm warmers, though one of them is shorter than the other, apparently 40 is not the same as 46. I'm currently knitting a matching beanie. The armers (arm warmers when my fingers can't keep up with my brain) are bright green and the beanie is the same green with white. It looks so cool!! After I finish my hat, I'm making Enesti TARDIS blue armers and then Rose dark blue ones. If Nira or Hazel would like some, choose a colour and let me know!

Okey dokey, that's all for now. Love you loads, miss you heaps... That's what I said in emails from France.

Have a good week!

Love Zara

Sick

Howdy y'all.

I am sick right now.
The tiny chickens invaded my skull overnight on Tuesday.
At maybe the worst possible time.

This week was officially named "Hell Week" by me.
We had standardized tests on Tuesday and Wednesday. They were easy reading tests, but still important because Universities look at them and also I've gotten perfect scores on them every year since year 3 when you start taking them and I don't think I did perfectly this year, so on the official records, I get negative achievement. It's a stupid system also it was invented by a certain president who was president before this one that nobody likes.

I am also sick of the weather. It's snowy and supposed to snow more this weekend.
THIS IS NOT NORMAL.
Since we moved here 16 years ago, it has snowed in April maybe once or twice. But "Snow in April" means a few flakes that soon turn into rain and don't accumulate.
NOT EFFING WINTER WONDERLAND.
So that pretty much sucks because I haven't seen green grass since December.

Also, Day of Silence was yesterday. I organized it for my school. Yep never doing that again except I'll probably do it next year and the year after that anyways but HOLY CRAP it was like herding cats with an extra touch of dramatic, tearful, sh*t storms.

Enough complaining. It's finally the weekend!

Best Wishes,
Rose.

Fail Blog Return

Hey hey

So I realised that I was doing really well at blogging... then I just stopped. So I'm back after the failed attempt at returning in the first place, let's hope it goes better this time.

Watching Merlin... really enjoying it. I watched all of season 1 yesterday, that was good.

I have a friend from college coming round at 3:30 to escape her brother's party. OH That reminds me. Down Under girls, do any of you have a house I can refuge in on the Saturday bight before school goes back, over night preferably. It would be so very appreciated.

Thats all really.

Holidays!!

Hello!

I'm very proud of the blog blitz girls, let's try to keep something similar up shall we?

So I'm holidays now, yes I am not going to my last two classes, I'm going to KYCK at 12, I went to Chemistry, second highest mark in the class on the test. :)

My cat tried to get into the fridge this morning, can I hear a weird cat please? I think she's sleeping in the washing now. I should probably remove her, I'll do that after I finish this post.

My fingernails  are very bright colours right now, rather pleased with myself. Last time I painted them, they were navy, so it's very different, they're pretty funky now.

Nira, I'm sorry I left you all alone for recess and lunch! It's not my fault dearest Hazel isn't going to school, it's not her fault either really... We love you anyway!!

Ok, I'm being picked up in about 40 minutes so I'd better deal with my cat and remove the yellow nail polish from my knuckles.

Have a brilliant holidays Down Under girls, I'm fairly certain Rose is still at school, good luck with that!

Lots of Love Zara.

I don't know what this is

Hey hey,

So as I write this I'm skyping with Rose and scrolling through Tumblr.

I just watched the new Doctor Who early. Loved it.

So I have an audition tomorrow for the school musical, should work on that. Or I should write another Trock song... I'm going to go do something productive.

Love you all

Studying and Procrastination

Hey hey

So I had two of my four exams today. Legal studies and Psychology. Maths and English are tomorrow... ew
The exams went well I guess, Leag was kinda easy and Psych was alright.

In light of my large workload and my poor studying this term I am highly considering deactivating my facebook account. Yes you may be thinking:

Woah hold up there Enesti, your life is facebook.

And in response I say, 'Yes reader who knows I spend a load of time just randomly refreshing my facebook,  it's a shock I know.'

But Enesti, what will you do with your time?

School work dear reader, thats the point.

Yes so I am highly considering leaving the world of facebook for at least term 2.

Murder for a good cause

Howdy y'all.
So... I killed a mouse today.
Well, I didn't kill it. I just watched as it was lowered into a box filled with dry ice and listened until it stopped moving and then harvested its organs.
I may or may not have mentioned, but I work at the University Stem Cell Institute every Tuesday. It's an independent study for Biology. My project is that I take the hearts of a special kind of genetically modified mouse and look at them under a microscope to see if there are any stem cells.
This is a tiny contribution to a really important field of research: No one is certain that there is such a thing as Stem Cells in the adult heart. That's why a heart failure can damage you for the rest of you life: your heart can't re grow the cells that died. If heart stem cells are found, a cure for heart failure could be developed and tons of lives could be saved.
In the mean time, I will be killing mice every week and slicing up their hearts. I think I'm in favor of using mice for research, generally speaking: you can genetically modify them and they'll still live as good or better a life as any mouse, until they are painlessly killed. I think it's kind of noble of them to sacrifice their lives.
But watching a terrified mouse die is really hard.
I'm just going to knuckle down and do it. What do you girls think?
Best Wishes!
Rose

Physics and Chemistry

Yes, yes, we all get it, I am a crazy person for doing physics and chem, can we move on now?

So I have a physics test in 45 minutes, and I can't really keep studying for it because I've written my reference sheet, done all the set questions and it's starting to seem futile.

I have chemistry test tomorrow, so I could study for that, in fact I should study for that. No reference sheet for that one and I have to go somewhere tonight so I should do that.

Instead I am blogging and our friend, Patience, is distracting me with poetry and re-writes of Rapunzel, crazy cat people FTW!!

Yeah, not much point behind this, I'm pretty bored today.

STAY AWAY RAIN!!

And long division is now referred to as a bizarre dance routine, and I am going back to work now!

P.S. Someone please find the little authors, the comment they left spammed my email several times.

Crying my eyes out

Hi all

I've just finished reading Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare I have been crying my eyes out for the last centimeter and a half or so of the book.

It was beautiful and intense and sad and wonderful and amazing.

It's the last book in the series, and the end was incredibly well written.

In other news, I have a giant fly who wants to suck out my soul in my bedroom so I'm not going to be getting much sleep tonight. Unless one of the Avengers decides to stand guard *swoons*.

Night all
Nira out.

Nerd Confessions #Whatever We're Up To and Life

Hey hey

Wow it's been a long time since I typed that... Well Hey, I'm back

So in my list of nerd confessions...

#1. Sherlock.
I finished season 1 and 2. I am now desperately waiting for season 3.
No I don't ship romantic Johnlock, I'm sorry actually no I don't have to apologise, I don't ship it romantically I ship it platonically. Love the show so much, my friends from college got me into it and wow... so much fangirling.

#2. Supernatural.
Part way through season 1, frickin terrified if I watch it after dark...
It's amazing and I'm a Dean girl, I have a friend or two who prefer Sam but no, Dean. The plot is awesome, I love how at this stage you don't need to have watched the previous episodes to understand what's going on. The humor of the characters is amazing and I love how comfortable the actors are in their roles.

#3. Doctor Who.
Watched the new episode.
Wow, it was awesome, I've already watched it twice. Even though I enjoyed it, I did have one or two things I wasn't as happy with. One, the Wi-Fi? It wasn't even that scary it just ended up with me being annoyed with friends who kept saying they didn't know where they were... anyway. Two, The Doctor didn't travel to the 'tomorrow' at the end..... ARGH. But other than that... I loved it, I love the new outfit and I'm starting to like the new TARDIS...

#4. Tumblr.
I've joined the world of Tumblr.
All I am going to say about it is

The rest of my life is going well. College is good, made some nerdy friends who are awesome. Missing the rest of my girls.
Hope to see you all here on the blog again soon. <3

Nerdfighters and Doctor Who

Hello Again,

Appears we're tag-teaming with our blog posts. Thanks Ni and Rose for posting!!

I'm not going to talk about particular books/games/movies etc. I do enough of that on my other blog. But I am going to talk about some stuff.

So after we met Rosie she introduced me and possibly Enesti to the vlogbrothers. And now I quite happily watch their videos, that was fine. Until I got into the other video stuff they make. I now also watch CrashCourse, particularly the history ones but I'm taking chem at school so I'm going to start watching those ones, Brainscoop, because what isn't cool about a museum full of dead things, and The Lizzie Bennett Diaries, WHICH ARE FINISHED!!! I'm just going to sob in a corner for a bit now. But it's alright, there's going to be another adaptation soonish, not that I know what it is, this is what I get for watching these things on my iPod or phone, in video links do not work.

While I'm being nerdy and all that, WHO WATCHED DOCTOR WHO LAST NIGHT????? Was it not brilliant?? I really think I'm going to like this series. Of course the Doctor has a case for his bow tie, monks are not cool, sorry guys, and now as I'm using the wifi, I'm a little nervous. But, that's what makes a good episode. I'm going to confess that even though my dad and I are Whovians, we actually haven't seen the Christmas special. Now before you all get outraged and refuse to read what I post anymore, hear me out. I went to France this summer and so I wasn't here of Christmas, Dad wanted to  watch it with me so he hadn't seen it. We realised this yesterday and ran out of time to watch it, so I can only guess what we're doing tonight.

And now I am off to eat breakfast and re-read Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief!

Nerd Confessions #2

Howdy y'all.
Nira's last post inspired me. I think we should all follow suit and talk about nerdy things we recently got into.

My latest thing? Game of Thrones.

If you don't know, Game of Thrones is a series of books by George R. R. Martin. (What is up with high fantasy authors and having "R. R." as their middle initials?)

Anyway, the books take place in a fictional world with lots of kings and knights and castles and stuff. The story centers around a noble house called the Starks of Winterfell. Stark is their family name. Winterfell is the land they rule over. The plot sort of grows from three major places: power in the kingdom, this girl named Daenerys who is the banished princess of the kingdom, and dark, threatening creatures that live north of the Wall that separates the kingdom from the northern wilderness.
The action is both emotional, political, and physical. I like how it's very complex and nothing's black and white.
I've also been warned not to like any of the characters because they're all going to die. I guess that counts as a spoiler, but oh well. If my friends up here spoiled it for me, I guess I can spoil it for y'all.

But it's no use. I get very attached to characters. I also like it when characters die. I'm part way through the second book and I have a kill list of all the best characters.
Except one.
His name is Jon Snow. He's the bastard son of Lord Eddard Stark of Winterfell. And I most definitely do not have a crush on him.

The thing about Game of Thrones is that even though it has an interesting plot, there's lots of gratuitous sex and violence in there for no apparent reason. It's also super sexist and pretty much always shows women in a bad light. If a woman is ugly, there is no way for her to be feminine. If she's feminine, she's either a whore or weak or both. So I feel sort of bad for enjoying these books.

Something I find interesting is the historical parallels it draws. I recently read a book about the 14th century in Europe, and it talked a lot about politics and war. One thing I learned is that the peasants always got the worst of it: taxed into oblivion, pillaged, murdered, and raped, etc. And there is plenty of rape and pillage in GoT, but very little taxing. Also, the peasants rose up against their overlords every other decade. That hasn't happened so far. The books really hold true to the myth that the only important actors in a kingdom are the great nobles.

But I highly recommend that you read these books. Just remember to think critically about them. And maybe not discuss them with children under the age of 13.

Girls, Nira has started something. What sort of stuff have you gotten into recently that you didn't expect to?

Best Wishes,
Rose.

Random post of randomness

Hi all,

In light of Zara's lastest blog I've decided to post something. So here is my post...

on...

MINECRAFT

Yes, Minecraft. What I once thought was a great evil in this world has pulled me into it's block-y grasp. And it's freaking beautiful man. Freaking beautiful.

For those of you who don't know what Minecraft is, let me enlighten you. Minecraft is what is known as a 'sandbox game'. This means that it's basically a 'make-your-own-world' game.

There are two main types of gameplay in Minecraft. The first is creative mode. In this mode you have unlimited resources and can place and destroy blocks at will as well as free flying and not having hunger or lives. Creatures are also peaceful.

In survival mode, resources are limited, flying is only possible with a magic ring and there are creatures who will attempt to kill you. You have a certain amount of lives among other things.

Hardcore mode is a submode of survival in which you only have one life and everything is harder.

In either of the survival modes there are a set of objectives, ending with killing a dragon.

The game can be either played as an offline single player or online multiplayer.

Mods and Skins are ways to enhance gameplay. Skins change the look of blocks, whereas Mods add more items and change the look of others.

Personally, I play creative mode to build places from stories (as well as giant awesome treehouses).

If you have heaps of free time on your hands I recommend downloading it. Though I have to warn you, you have to buy an account. And it's very addictive.

Anywho

Nira out.

Well, We're Snowed Under

Hi Everyone

It's assessment week Down Under. Enesti's got an official Exams Week, the rest of us just have the unofficial equivalent. So, yup, lots of work. I personally have 3 tests and 2 assignments due in the next 5 school days.Good ol' Rosie, on the other hand, has been on Spring Break. Isn't she lucky?

What's been happening with us besides work you ask?

Well, Nira and I are writing our story, Hazel is not injuring herself for once, I'm not so sure about Enesti, I only see her once a week :( and I was actually talking to Rose today. She helped with my English story. Ta love!

I actually don't really have anything to say and I think that might be a reason we don't blog as much, we don't have anything in particular to say, so we feel like it's not worth blogging about boring stuff like school work.

But! Girls, I reckon we should use this blog we've got here! I don't get to talk to Rose and Enesti much any more and  I miss you guys! So what if we just talked about whatever, doesn't even matter if it's coherent. Slap something together, whether it's about a song, a book, a class, a fandom or just whatever's on your mind, put it up here or email it and we can talk about it. Sound like a plan?

Just realised this only works if you guys actually still read this... EXPECT AN EMAIL!!

Good luck with work and all the jazz!

Lots of love Zara

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAREST ROSE!! Today you are 16! And not a moment too soon, the "baby" of the group has finally made it!

That, and birthdays are exhausting. Anyway!

Unfortunately, it's more than a little hard to get a present to you but we have a surprise. You won't know when, you won't know where, but there is a surprise lurking, just for you!

Hmm, that surprise sounds evil now, oh well!!

Gotta dash, something about going to bed I think...

Anywho, Happy Sixteenyeariversarry to you Rosie!

Is is Spring Yet?

Howdy y'all.

So... It's winter here. And it's going to be winter for another few months.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Here's the thing about where I live: It's winter wonderland for the last half of December, and then it get COLD. Like, negative degrees Fahrenheit. Then it snows a buttload. Then it rains some. Then the rain freezes. Then it is actually warm for a bit and you start getting spring fever in mid February. Then it snows and freezes a bunch until late March when it starts to slowly melt. Trust me, there will be snow on the ground until April.

OK. So this whole blog post so far has been about the whether. Boring.

Here is more about my life:

-Starting Drivers Ed tomorrow (10 classes, 3 hours each class. After school. Welcome to hell, population Rose.)

-Getting braces in a few weeks (additional hellishness)

-Maybe accidentally going to the statewide poetry recitation competition (long story)

-Gonna slice some mouse hearts up and look at them under a microscope and possibly cure heart cancer but probably not. (another long story)

-Going to start watching Star Trek. Thoughts?

Best Wishes!
Rose

Salut

Hi All,

Just a quick post in the 10 minutes before lunch.

It's been pretty quiet around here recently, besides the birthdays. And by here, I mean the blog, real life is always busy but we don't put everything on the internet, we do have some privacy.... ok, a LOT of privacy.

College is pretty good for all of us DU girls, I spoke to Rose briefly yesterday, she seem spretty pleased with herself, been out horse riding and fun stuff like that.

5 minutes until lunch, c'mon I'm hungry and there's only so much I can babble about quickly.

Hmmm, ok, that's it. There'll be another update soon-ish. Hopefully evryone else blogs sometime!

Lots of Love Zara

P.S Little Zara and I are going back to our physics assignment. 'Cause we're cool like that.

Numbers

Howdy Y'all.

I've been thinking about numbers a lot lately.

So have we all: CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE ON NEW LANDMARKS INVOLVING NUMBERS. (see previous few posts.)

My own numbers are a bit more stressful. That's right: Rose is obsessed with her GPA again.

Look, I'm a pretty frakking awesome student. I have 6 As and a B. But I still freak out every time my grades change, even by 1%.

And don't you tell me to chill. It would be like telling Hermione to chill about her grades. No would would dare do that except Ron and I'm not marrying YOU!

... that escalated quickly.

Anyways, does anyone else have this problem? How do y'all deal with it?

Best Wishes,
Rose

If This Be Post 101

Hi,

So I had no idea that I was up to 100 posts here. The sad thing is that I have more posts up here than on my personal blog.

I'm home from France now and jet lag is present in the form of headaches. Which is just lovely isn't it? I also have blisters on my feet from wearing my thongs after 7 weeks of boots and double layered socks, square band-aids it is!

I had an amazing time, my family are fabulous, both families that is, French and actual blood family. I'm sad that it's over but I can definitely say that it was an incredible 7 weeks and I wouldn't swap it for any 7 weeks of summer ever. I mean, I saw snow and my French is better and I made friends and the list is huge.

But now I'm back in my Australian world ( I was going to say real world but not really the right way to put it). School goes back in a week and we're starting college so that's exciting. I have books for it and I actually only have to cover one this year. I need to relearn the ways of the English keyboard because I keep typing q instead of a and I can't find punctuation any more, or the m key. I kind of need to unpack my ENORMOUS suitcase and sort out clothes because I need to get some new summer stuff because summer has been absent for several years, last year was the second coldest summer on record and this one is already the second hottest and it's getting warmer.

So I'm off to do some stuff, DFTBA, keep blogging!

Lots of Love Zara

Just want to congratulate Zara on her 100th blog post, good on ya girl.

Bye

It's Ma Birfdae

Hey hey

So I feel bad that I haven't posted in so long... sorry everyone. But I shall make up for it by spending some of my birthday writing to you.

So my mum came in at 7:30 this morning and gave me some b'day cards. (which tend to have a theme of either cupcakes or butterflies, which is awesome cause I love both, the down side is they tend to be pink. :P)
Anyway, I opened them and that was cool and then I finally got to open the letter Zara wrote me before she left for France.
(Thank you Zara, it was almost as if you were back.)
And then I couldn't go back to sleep... So
I caught up on Youtube videos (including one that was posted on my birthday [thanks to time difference] by the vlogbrothers, very happy)
I spent a while on facebook.
AND THEN
I skyped with Rose! it was awesome and really cool and I miss you Rose.
I've watched an episode of The West Wing
I've spent more time on facebook
I had an incredible time talking about pyjamas with my friend Billio... yeah

Anyway I'm off for luch at Max Brenner and a movie with my awesome brother.
Seeya everyone

I AM GOING TO BLOG NOW

Howdy y'all.

Sorry for not having blogged in a while.

Not much is new in my life.

I started watching Supernatural. It's an American TV show that's been around for about 8 years. I recommend it to anyone who can deal with scary things jumping out of the shadows and some mature content. WARNING: very addicting.

It's really cold today. It's currently -23 degrees Centigrade but with the wind it feels like -35. Needless to say, I do not plan on leaving the house.

It's a three day weekend because today is Martin Luther King day. (I sincerely hope y'all know who that is Down Under...)

I also pulled a meter-long clump of hair out of the shower drain yesterday. It may be time to get a hair cut. (Actually kidding. I like my hair.)

My school's spring musical this year is The Sound Of Music, which happens to be my favorite movie musical ever. I wish I could have auditioned, but my schedule is too busy. I would have made an amazing Baroness.

Best Wishes!
Rosie

Bonne Année

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Yes I know this is late but better late than never with things like this!

France is just amazing before you ask, as I type this we're watching a weird show with puppets that are characteurs of people. We being my host sister and me, she needs a nickname... Ze Winner I think is appropriate, it's a joke and that should be read in a French accent.

We started school again on Monday and Ze Winner is already tried of it, school's not really her thing. I find it kind of funny to sit in a classroom and have nothing expected of me. Except for the fact that one of the other Down Underens in my class, there are 3 of us, and me can't do science pracs because we don't have sexy lab coats. The class is split in two for pracs and they swap from biology to physics/chem halfway through the 3 hours. The third Down Underen is in the other half. Anyway, we were sitting in the corner talking very quietly in English. The bell went and of course we'd forgotten class was an hour and a half, not an hour so we got ready to leave, that was embarrassing. At the end of the hour and a half the teacher told our host sisters that if we were going to talk like that we shouldn't bother coming back! We want to know what we're meant to do, we can't do the prac and there's not any theory provided.  Everyone in the class was a bit amazed.

I went ice skating today and fell over once and it was not my fault!! There was about 8 of us skating in a line and the girl at the front decided to go very fast. The guy next to me didn't want to go VERY fast so he let go of the person on the other side, unfortunately, there was someone is front of us so as not to crash into her, he accidentally ran into me. He fell over, my skates got caught and I hit the ice on my back, it was rather cold.

In other news I am about to hunt down the person who is responsible for the pop up that tells me that the Internet page I am using is in English and would I like to translate it with google because it is on EVERYTHING!!

Abd that's all for now folks.

Lots of Love Zara

P.S I know what you blog girls are getting for your birthdays!
